The Most Memorable Last Cigarette Ever!

  • It’s so close to ‘baby time’ that I thought it’d be nice if I recorded one of the most unforgettable days of my life - the day I found out I was pregnant!

A Mini Excerpt Of A Diary I Never Kept.

Friday 10th August 2007

Had a bit of spotting today, that means AF is due any day. Better be prepared.

Saturday 11th August 2007

Bit more spotting, I expect she’ll arrive on Monday… perfect timing as usual.

Monday 13th August 2007

It was Jeff’s father’s funeral today. Thankfully AF didn’t turn up with the usual horrendous cramps and take my focus off Jeff and his family.

Wednesday 15th August 2007

Still no sign of AF. Just checked my Ovusoft charting thing and I’m on CD34, my longest cycle so far has been 36 days I don’t think it’ll be much longer than that but knowing my cycles anything could happen! I wish I carried on charting and not just taking note of when my period started for the last couple of months. I’ll start again next cycle I think,.

Saturday 18th August 2007

7:30am – It’s CD37. I’ve got 2 internet cheapies left from months ago, going to go use one now then wait for AF to start.

8:00am – TWO LINES!!! On two tests!!! I can’t believe it, I’m shaking and in a daze. When I saw those lines I staggered out of the bathroom, test in hand, towards Jeff. All I could say to him was “Two lines!” Then I left the poor bugger standing there and returned to use the other test. Again, I had a positive result. Jeff’s trying to keep my feet on the ground by reminding me that they were cheap tests and quite old so now I have to wait until the chemist is open to go get a Clearblue to confirm it all. I need a cigarette! I’m going to have one last one… my nerves are on edge!

8:30am – Oh come on time! This is torture! So glad the chemist is just a minute away! I had my last smoke, Jeff and I stood out in the garden both a bit in shock and talking about the what ifs.

9:15am – I’M PREGNANT! We’re having a baby!
