I’m A Babywearer Part 2
Me, Indi & Jeff went shopping locally yesterday. We parked close to the shops so were in view of everyone. As I was strapping Indi into my African-Kanga-fabric-Asian-inspired-carrier (or Mei Tai/MT), two women stared at me. Literally stared the whole time! I kind of smiled at which point the younger woman smiled back but didn’t look away!
It would’ve been better if they’d just come up to me with their questions but what can you do?!
On our way back to the car Jeff told me an Asian lady was checking out the MT. I didn’t see her but she was probably wondering what the hell I thought I was doing ’stealing’ two wholly different cultures and squishing them together! Haha!
Anyway, I bought some beautiful fabric that I’ll be making another MT out of… watch this space
My Moby wrap came this morning, it’s so soft and comfortable, although a little (a lot!) bit too warm for it today. I took it down to show Mum and promptly left it there
AND I wanted to wear it when I got home! Bugger!
I’ll have to wear the lotus flower MT I made to baby group tomorrow as I noticed one of the strap seams is starting to come apart - the kanga was originally going to be made into a quilt and pillow covers, I used the half made pillow covers and forgot to reinforce the seams *doh!*
So now I have a MT sewing project that I’ll do oneday. I think I’ll take my sewing machine to Mum’s and make it there, nice to have some company and a second pair of eyes to watch Indi!
I’ll be back tomorrow to update on Indi’s weight gain ![]()

While I was on vacation, we went to the library, and a lady came in wearing her baby. Honestly, it’s the first time I’ve seen that done except for myself and a few other like-minded “weirdos”.
I smiled at her and wondered what type of baby sling/carrier it was, but didn’t get the opportunity to talk to her.
Hope she didn’t think I was disapproving, if she noticed me noticing her.
