Reaching Out Across The Seas!

March 13, 2008 at 5:09 pm (Pregnancy) (, , , )

She did it to me so I’m doing it back… Hello hbacmama! I hope you’re the one going red now! ;)

She makes a good point about tag surfing, it’s a great way to take a peek into the lives of people living all around the world who have the same interests as you. I’m on WordPress an awful lot and I love browsing everyone’s blogs and hearing about their days.

Onto baby type stuff - I’m 35 weeks today, hooray! Another week down! According to the books, the baby is around 6lbs and measuring about 18 inches. Can you believe that?! And some more fabulous news - we have THE name. After asking Jeff time and time again he finally said today “I thought we had settled on Indigo?” I squeaked “really? Really, really?” back at him as my eyes started to well! Hormones eh?! So yeah, our little baby shall be named Indigo, boy or girl. Which makes things a lot easier! Now I can refer to baby as Indigo instead of baby or bubs or little one or little bugger!

I am quite sick at the moment, it is a stomach virus that I have… I’m not going into labour after all… boy is my face red! The insomnia is also quite persistent and acid reflux is getting worse! All this lying around has been great for my SPD though, it’s only aching during the night now. You know, after all these years trying to get pregnant I never thought I’d say that I wish it would hurry up and be over with! I’ve never been so sick in my life. My immune system has always been really strong, the sickest I’d get was one cold a year but so far this year I’ve had two colds and now this virus. Bleurgh!

Anyhoo, I’m going to retreat back to my sofa and beg Jeff to make me some food…. heeheehee!

Back to the Names Blackboard!

February 24, 2008 at 8:55 am (Misc) (, , )

Well, sort of. We still like Dharma and Inigo but now we’re wondering if maybe we should have a couple of back up names aswell, just in case we look at baby when s/he’s born and think “You don’t look like a Dharma/Inigo!”.

So I’ve been perusing all the baby name websites and as usual haven’t come up with very much! There is one name that I really like, Jeff is sitting on the fence with it at the moment though. I’d better not pester him with too many names or he’ll start coming up with silly ones or just want to settle on something like ‘Bob’! He seemed to like my favourite name, and it’s unisex… So maybe?

What? You want to know what it is? Nah I’m not telling… Oh ok it’s…

INDIGO, or Indi for short. I love it so much! It’s what I’d change my name to if I could, so that must be a good sign?! And I really don’t care what people think, we could be calling our baby Moonstar Sunbeam and it wouldn’t be any of their business.

Anyway, Jeff will probably decide he hates it so I’d better not get too attatched. Dharma still has special meaning though, perhaps we’ll use it as a middle name if not the first. Inigo hasn’t any special meaning so it’s one of those names that I can easily put aside. This naming business is so hard! Trying to find a name that appeals to both of us is near impossible and I don’t want to laden the kid with something too over the top but everything else seems so boring and common!

Indigo is still at the top of the list on the desktop notepad, along with Dharma and Inigo. We’ll just have to see I suppose :)

We Have Names!!!

December 31, 2007 at 4:50 pm (Misc) (, )

That’s right! After going through lists and lists and lists, choosing names then going off them, Jeff spotted a boys name last night so I googled it and found out that it is extremely rare - exactly what I wanted!

So, if we have a girl she shall be called Dharma Erika Mai Jones (Erika after Jeff’s father and Mai was my Granny’s middle name.)

And if we have a boy he shall be called Inigo Eric Gary Jones (Again, Eric after Jeff’s father and Gary after my little brother.)

Dharma is Buddhist and means “the essential function or nature of a thing” or “ the principle or law that orders the universe”. Inigo is disputed a lot on name websites but most say it is Portuguese or Greek meaning firey.
